Update: Adding my thoughts to the 5 star rating I gave over a year ago. I had a good experience at the Aurora Glendale location. I went in with severe depression and was having suicidal thoughts, so I checked myself in. No, my depression wasn't magically cured during my stay (average length of stay at all inpatient hospitals for ppl with mental health issues is 7 to 10 days) but they helped me reset my mind and I wasn't discharged until well after I stopped having suicidal ideation. Look, I'm about to drop a few truth bombs and a couple tips that might give ppl more reasonable expectations before entering ANY behavioral health hospital. Yes, they will take away your personal belongings and keep them locked up while you're there. You will be checked on every 15 minutes by staff. Doors out of the unit you're in are kept locked by staff and you will be lining up to exit the unit for meals or any activities. If you're wondering why they "treat ppl this way", here's the reason: those are all measures to keep you safe while you're there. Perhaps you're not suicidal. But your roommate might be. Other patients on the unit might be as well. Or, maybe you haven't thought about harming someone else. But what if another patient on the unit is having those thoughts? Those safety measures keep you safe from harm as well. A lot of bad reviews on here are complaints about the rooms themselves. Don't expect a luxury hotel but on the other hand, don't expect the place to be falling apart either. Here's a tip: if you are voluntarily checking yourself into a behavioral health hospital, avoid going to the ER first if possible. ER staff aren't going to treat you with any compassion at all, whether you are having a mental health crisis or suffer from addiction. Find another way: call your doctor or therapist office to get a referral. Or have a friend or family member call the hospital for you to see if they have any beds available. You yourself can call. Over a year later, I'm glad to say that I haven't had the need to go inpatient since then. Thank you Aurora Glendale for being there when I felt so lost. I'm so appreciative of the care and help I received!

This place changed my life and so many other's. Its really sad that some people don't like the way the place looks or how the food was. Its life or death for some people and to be one foot on the streets and one foot here. They changed my life. Sometimes you need to reset and that what Aurora does.

I have had about 15 good experiences, 2 soso experiences, and one horrible experience there. Imma opiate junkie. I appreciate what they did 4 me. Catherine, Eddy, Martin',Gilbert, RN Chris, Kathleen, Devon, Brandon, and the big motorcycle ridin, comic freak... Y'all rock! However, when a patient files a grievance 4 a legit reason.. It's all bad. I was threatened with police action, medicine deprivation, and I was lied to by The nurse supervisor Christine. I also had 70 💵 missing from my property 2 visits ago. Dennis McCoubrey worked there and he is a fraud, butbstill a caring man. If I don't get my broken 📱 replaced because of their ineptitude, I will raise hell. A couple hundred 💵 is nothing to them. It's everything 2 a newly sober, newly housed spiritually grounded man. Pick your poison, the opiate epidemic is killing us. Bursting at the seams. I will not ever return to Aurora Glendale except for the due compensation 4 my Samsung j3 pop 📱. Till next 🕒... Richie..

Dr. Newman is the best doctor that I have ever experienced in my life. He sincerely enjoys advocating for his patients, resolving medical complications that may arise, most of all, he is an excellent teacher. His words of encouragement to me have inspired me to go out into our American society and be the best productive citizen that I can be. I have a renewed hope in my future aspirations and value towards positively impacting the world around me. It was as though, I had fallen into a dark hole, and Dr. Newman gave me two hands to lift me out of the pit. My life is permanently changed for the better because I had the privilege of working with Dr. Newman. I would refer anyone needing mental health services to Dr. Newman in a heartbeat. Thank you so much Dr. Newman, I will never forget what you have done for me! Sincerely, Tami Carpenter-Olney

Dr. Sbiliris is the best Psychiatric Doctor that I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. He is an exceptionally observant listener, and he tailors your psychiatric care specifically to your needs. Dr. Sbiliris is affordable for me, as I do not have medical insurance at the current time. I would have been at a serious medical management loss if I didn't have Dr. Sbiliris' care. I trust him and value his vast medical knowledge. I am so thankful to have Dr. Sbiliris managing my psychiatric care.
